In early 1959 the Spindletop Farm was sold to The University of Kentucky for $850,000. In 1962, the same year as the passing of former Matriarch Pansy Yount, Spindletop Hall became the residence of the University of Kentucky Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Club. The Club’s roster has grown from around 500 memberships to nearly 1300 families and individuals who enjoy the facilities. We welcome new members and invite all members to come to their Club for any of the numerous activities we have planned for their enjoyment. Membership information is available on this web site, via mail per request, and in various areas of the Club.
Spindletop Hall, Inc. publishes a monthly newsletter to provide members with information regarding all Club functions and special events. We suggest that you keep the newsletter in a convenient place for reference to our upcoming events. The Long Range Calendar of Events comes in handy for advanced planning. A Summer Outdoor Activities Booklet is mailed to the membership in the Spring which details all or our summer programs and functions. This booklet includes information about swimming, tennis, golf practice facilities, and more. The Club Dining Room is open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday and for Dinner Thursday through Saturday with full menu service in a formal setting. Lunch hours begin at 11:30 a.m. and seating continues until 2 p.m. Dinner hours begin at 6:00 p.m. and seating continues until 8:30 p.m. Exceptions to this are the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month when a Bridge Buffet Luncheon is served, and the first and third Tuesday evenings of the month when our Games Night Bingo Buffet dinner is served. Menu service is not available in the Club Dining Room when these buffets are being served. The Saddlehorse Lounge is available for casual dining from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Each Sunday a “Brunch” Luncheon Buffet is served with a variety of menus and cuisine. Menus are published in the monthly newsletter for your reference. Holiday Buffets are very popular at Spindletop and dates that we begin taking reservations for each of these special occasions are published in the newsletter.
